What is FitTrackee?

Self-hosted FitTrackee is a simple workout and activity tracker. Upstream's README describes a web application for tracking outdoor activities from files, with data on your own server, with workouts exported from phones and devices as files and map data from OpenStreetMap. A workout can also be added without a file. It is a self-hosted alternative to services such as Strava, and it is licensed AGPL-3.0.

On xCloud the template runs fittrackee/fittrackee v1.3.5, pinned by digest, with PostgreSQL 18 and PostGIS on a private network. It is the minimal single-user topology: Redis and background workers are omitted, so email delivery, data exports, archive uploads and Redis rate limiting are not enabled. Four named volumes hold the database, uploads, map cache and logs.

Is FitTrackee free and open source?

Yes. FitTrackee is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3, so the tracker costs nothing in licences. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your workouts stay on your own volumes. This template adds no paid tier.

Can I run FitTrackee with Docker?

Yes, and this template does it for you: the fittrackee/fittrackee v1.3.5 image and a PostGIS database, pinned by digest, with four named volumes behind HTTPS. It is FitTrackee Docker hosting without writing the compose file, and it targets amd64 servers.

How much RAM does a FitTrackee cloud server need?

Count on 1536 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk at least; the 6 GB Cloud VPS sold here suits a FitTrackee cloud install. Large activity libraries grow the database and map cache, so watch disk.

Which file formats can FitTrackee import?

The template README names GPX, FIT, TCX, KML and KMZ workout files, and you can also create a workout manually. Upstream's README explains that phone and device apps export workouts into files you then upload. Archive uploads are not enabled in this minimal template.

Does FitTrackee work with smartwatches and apps?

Indirectly. Upstream says several mobile apps and devices store workout data locally and export it into a file, and lists examples such as OpenTracks and OsmAnd for Android. Gadgetbridge has no integration, so you upload exported files rather than syncing live.

Can anyone register on my FitTrackee?

New registrations are created inactive and stay that way until an administrator activates them under Administration, Users, because email confirmation is not configured. Only the seeded administrator account is active out of the box, so review the administration settings after you sign in.

Does FitTrackee send email?

No. Redis and the background workers that upstream's multi-user topology uses are omitted, so email delivery is not enabled by this template. That also affects user-data exports and archive uploads. Plan on administrators activating accounts by hand.

How do I back up FitTrackee?

Take one backup of fittrackee_db, fittrackee_uploads, fittrackee_staticmap_cache and fittrackee_logs together. Prefer a PostgreSQL-native dump for an active database, stop the services for a filesystem snapshot, keep APP_SECRET_KEY, and test a restore in an isolated install.

How do I update FitTrackee?

There are no automatic upgrades. Release v1.3.5 is fixed by digest and catalogue changes reach new installs only. Read the changelog, back up all four volumes, keep APP_SECRET_KEY, then adopt a newer template version; migrations run on start.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
