Gerrit Code Review Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Gerrit Code Review hosting and give your engineering team a review gate that every change passes before it merges. xCloud runs the pinned Gerrit 3.14.4 image beside a bundled LLDAP user directory, generates the administrator password, mounts persistent volumes for repositories, index, cache and site configuration, and publishes both over HTTPS in minutes — with Git over SSH on its own port.

What is Gerrit Code Review?

Gerrit Code Review is an open-source code review and project management tool for Git-based projects. It shows changes side by side, lets any reviewer add inline comments, and lets authorised users submit approved changes to the main repository rather than requiring a maintainer to merge them by hand.

On xCloud it runs as the official Gerrit image next to a bundled LLDAP container that provides the user directory, behind HTTPS on your own domains, with repositories and review metadata kept in persistent volumes.

From Sign-Up to a Live Review Server In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Gerrit server normally means the application, a user directory, an index, repository storage, domains and certificates before the first change is pushed. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Gerrit Code Review from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain, enter the Administrator Email and keep the generated Administrator Password or set your own.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Gerrit 3.14.4 and LLDAP v0.6.3 images, pinned by immutable digest, mount the gerrit_git, gerrit_index, gerrit_cache, gerrit_db, gerrit_etc and lldap_data volumes, keep the LDAP port on the private install network, and publish Gerrit and the user directory over HTTPS.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Add Your Team

Allow up to five minutes for the first start, then open your HTTPS Gerrit URL and sign in as admin right away. Next, open the user directory domain, sign in as admin and create a user for each person.

Everything Gerrit Does, On Your Own Server

Gerrit runs in full here: a review workflow for your Git projects on your own domain, with the sign-in directory and storage it needs alongside.

  • Review Before Merge

Changes are shown side by side and reviewers add inline comments; authorised users submit approved changes to the main repository instead of a maintainer merging by hand.

  • Per-Project Access Control

Gerrit's access control is set per project, so you decide who can read, review and submit in each repository.

  • Git Over HTTPS And SSH

Git over HTTPS works through your domain with no extra port. Git over SSH uses a dedicated TCP port shown in the credentials, which you open in your own firewall.

  • Bundled LLDAP User Directory

Sign-in is backed by LLDAP, which has its own web UI on its own domain, so you can create users without running extra infrastructure. The same username and password work in Gerrit.

  • Large Pushes Allowed

The proxy limit is raised to 1 GB per request, so large pushes over HTTPS are not stopped at the default 100 MB.

  • No External Database

Gerrit's embedded index and Git-backed metadata live in named volumes, so repositories, review metadata, site configuration and users survive an xCloud Restart.

Everything You Need To Run Your Code Review 24/7

Managed hosting for Gerrit Code Review, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Gerrit 3.14.4 deployed instantly
  • Official images pinned by digest
  • Administrator password generated for you
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Gerrit Code Review

  • Gate every change behind a review

Push changes for review and let reviewers comment inline and approve before anything reaches the main repository.

  • Control who can do what per repository

Set access per project so reading, reviewing and submitting are granted only to the people who should have them.

  • Give a team accounts without extra infrastructure

Create a user for each person in the bundled LLDAP directory and they sign in to Gerrit with the same credentials.

  • Push large repositories over HTTPS

Send big pushes through your own domain with the proxy limit raised to 1 GB per request, or use Git over SSH on the published port.

Gerrit Code Review vs Alternatives

GitHub pull requests
A hosted service where changes are proposed as pull requests; Gerrit runs on your own server and reviews changes in a workflow where approved changes are submitted to the main repository by authorised users.
GitLab
A broader DevOps platform with merge requests, issues and CI/CD pipelines; Gerrit focuses on code review and Git repository management.
Gitea
A lightweight self-hosted Git service with pull requests, issues, releases and a package registry; Gerrit is built around review of every change before it merges.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How do people sign in?

Create each user in the bundled LLDAP directory on its own domain, signing in there as admin. The same username and password work in Gerrit.

How do I sign in the first time?

Open your HTTPS Gerrit URL and sign in as admin with the Administrator Password from the protected installation credentials. The first account to sign in becomes the Gerrit administrator, so do this before anyone else does.

What runs alongside Gerrit?

An LLDAP container that provides the user directory, with its own web UI on its own HTTPS domain. Its LDAP port is reachable only by Gerrit on the private install network.

Can I use Git over SSH?

Yes, on the published TCP port shown in the credentials, once you open that port in your own server firewall — xCloud does not open it for you. Git over HTTPS works through your Gerrit domain with no extra port.

Why does Git over HTTPS ask for credentials that do not work yet?

A directory user must sign in once through the Gerrit web form before Git over HTTPS credentials work.

Why is my push for review rejected?

Pushes for review need a Change-Id in the commit message, which Gerrit's commit-msg hook adds to your commits.

Can anonymous visitors see my projects?

Anonymous visitors can read public projects, which is stock Gerrit's default, but cannot write. QA confirmed a wrong password is rejected and the development login that lets anyone become any account is off.

Does Gerrit send email?

Not out of the box: no outgoing email is configured until you add sendemail settings to gerrit.config.

How do I change the administrator password?

Edit the Administrator Password in the site's Environment editor and redeploy. It is re-applied to both Gerrit and the user directory at every start, so a password changed for admin inside the user directory alone is reverted at the next start.

What should I back up?

The gerrit_git, gerrit_etc and lldap_data volumes together.

What survives a restart?

Repositories, review metadata, site configuration and users: they live in persistent named volumes, and they survived an xCloud Restart in QA.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Gerrit?

No. The images are pinned by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release and existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 1024 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 560 MiB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Gerrit?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Gerrit Code Review project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
