What is Gopeed?

Self-hosted Gopeed, short for Go Speed, is a high-speed downloader developed with Go and Flutter. Its README says it supports the HTTP, BitTorrent, Magnet and ED2K protocols on all platforms, and that it is highly customizable through APIs and extensions. Here it runs as a browser-managed download service, in place of a hosted download service or a desktop client left running, under the GPL-3.0 licence.

How much RAM does Gopeed need?

Per the manifest, Gopeed needs 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk as a floor. The 6 GB Cloud VPS on offer leaves real headroom, while the disk is what fills up as downloads accumulate.

Is Gopeed free and open source?

Yes. Gopeed is GPL-3.0 licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v1.9.3 tag, so there is no separate licence payment, only the dedicated Cloud VPS from xCloud, and your downloads stay on your own volumes.

Can you run Gopeed with Docker?

How do I sign in to Gopeed?

Open your HTTPS URL and use the administrator username and generated password shown in the installation credentials. A private API token is also generated for API clients. Keep both private, because anyone with them can queue downloads on your server.

How much disk space does Gopeed need?

Can I download anything with Gopeed?

How do I rotate the Gopeed password or API token?

Update the value in the Environment editor and restart the application. Keep the API token stable when restoring a backup that existing API clients depend on, and update every client that uses the old value.

What should I back up on a Gopeed server?

gopeed_storage for configuration, task metadata and protocol state, and gopeed_downloads for the files, together. Pause new downloads, stop the application, snapshot both volumes, then restart; restore both from the same set, keep the password private, and test it.

How do I upgrade Gopeed?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned release 1.9.3 until you adopt a newer template version. Snapshot both volumes first, read the upstream release notes, then check sign-in and that a test download completes.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
