Jaeger Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Jaeger hosting and trace requests across your services with OpenTelemetry on your own domains. xCloud runs the pinned Jaeger 2.22.0 image with on-disk storage, puts an nginx Basic Auth gateway in front of the UI and the OTLP HTTP ingest address, generates the password and publishes both over HTTPS in minutes. Traces are kept for 48 hours by default.

What is Jaeger?

Jaeger is an open-source distributed tracing platform, a CNCF project. Applications send traces to it over OpenTelemetry, and its web UI lets you search them and see how a request moved across services. Jaeger v2 is a single binary that bundles the collector, storage and query UI. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted Jaeger, an alternative to a commercial tracing product such as Datadog APM or New Relic, with the code under the Apache-2.0 licence.

On xCloud it is Jaeger 2.22.0 behind an nginx Basic Auth gateway, both pinned by digest. Jaeger has no login of its own, so the gateway guards the UI and the OTLP HTTP ingest address with one generated password. Traces sit in Badger on the jaeger_data volume and expire after 48 hours by default. Only OTLP over HTTP is accepted, and no raw TCP or UDP port is published.

From Sign-Up to a Live Jaeger In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Jaeger setup normally means the tracing binary, a storage choice that survives restarts, a login in front because Jaeger has none, two domains and certificates before the first trace. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Jaeger from the OneClick catalog. Choose a server and domains for the UI and the OTLP HTTP ingest address; the install form has no other fields.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start Jaeger 2.22.0 and an nginx gateway, both pinned by digest, generate the gateway password, mount jaeger_data for on-disk Badger storage and publish the UI and OTLP HTTP ingest over HTTPS. Allow about a minute.

  3. Step 03

    Send Traces Over OTLP HTTP

Open the UI and sign in as jaeger with the generated password. Point your OpenTelemetry exporter at the ingest address with http/protobuf and a Basic Authorization header, and the service appears once its first spans arrive.

Everything Jaeger Does, On Your Own Server

Jaeger 2.22.0 runs here as a single binary with its UI and on-disk storage, behind a gateway you control.

  • Distributed Tracing

Follow a request across the services it touches and search traces in the Jaeger UI.

  • OpenTelemetry Ingest

Applications send traces over OTLP/HTTP with an Authorization header. OTLP gRPC and the legacy Jaeger ports are not published.

  • A Gateway In Front

Jaeger has no login of its own, so nginx Basic Auth protects the UI, the query API, the MCP endpoint and the ingest address.

  • Traces Survive A Restart

Badger storage on the jaeger_data volume keeps traces across restarts, unlike Jaeger's built-in memory-only default.

  • 48 Hours By Default

Spans expire after 48 hours unless you change BADGER_SPAN_TTL, and Jaeger has no API to delete traces sooner.

  • Sized For Modest Volume

Storage is a single-node on-disk store. Heavy ingest suits a dedicated Jaeger deployment with a search backend.

Everything You Need To Run Your Distributed Tracing 24/7

Managed hosting for Jaeger, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Jaeger 2.22.0 deployed instantly
  • Images pinned by digest
  • Gateway password generated for you
  • Free SSL certificates
  • Traces on a persistent volume
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Jaeger

  • Find the slow service

Follow one request through your microservices and see where the time goes.

  • Debug a failed request

Search traces to find which service returned the error.

  • Keep trace data on your server

Hold traces on a volume you control instead of sending them to a commercial tracing vendor.

  • Try OpenTelemetry tracing

Point an OpenTelemetry exporter at your own backend and view the results in the Jaeger UI.

Jaeger vs Alternatives

Datadog APM
Jaeger is an open-source alternative to Datadog APM and to New Relic for traces: it is Apache-2.0 software, and here the traces stay on the jaeger_data volume of your own server.
Zipkin
Jaeger v2 bundles the collector, storage and query UI in one binary. This template enables only the OTLP receiver, not the Zipkin receiver, so compare on that basis.
Grafana Tempo
Jaeger keeps traces in on-disk Badger storage with its own search UI, sized for modest volume. Grafana is available as its own OneClick app.
SigNoz
Jaeger here focuses on traces only, ingested over OTLP/HTTP. SigNoz is available as its own OneClick app.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What is Jaeger used for?

Jaeger records traces, the path a request takes through your services, and lets you search and visualise them. Teams use it to find slow services and failing calls in a microservice system, with traces collected over OpenTelemetry.

Does Jaeger support OpenTelemetry?

Yes. Applications send traces to Jaeger over OTLP. In this template only OTLP over HTTP is published, with Basic Auth. OTLP gRPC stays inside the container, so use an OpenTelemetry Collector if you need gRPC upstream.

What is the difference between Jaeger and Zipkin?

Jaeger v2 is an open-source tracing platform that ships the collector, storage and query UI in one binary and reuses OpenTelemetry Collector components. This template enables only the OTLP receiver, not the Zipkin receiver, so Zipkin clients cannot send to it directly.

Where does Jaeger store traces?

In Badger, an on-disk store on the jaeger_data volume, so traces survive a restart or redeploy. Spans expire after 48 hours by default through BADGER_SPAN_TTL, and archived traces are kept for 720 hours, so plan around those limits.

Is Jaeger free?

Yes. Jaeger is released under the Apache-2.0 licence, so the software has no licence fee. The dedicated Cloud VPS storing your traces is the only cost, which makes it a Jaeger cloud of your own.

How much RAM does Jaeger need?

The template minimum is 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 5 GB of disk. Storage is a single-node on-disk store sized for modest trace volume. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung.

Can you self-host Jaeger with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Jaeger Docker hosting without the setup: the upstream jaegertracing/jaeger 2.22.0 image and an nginx gateway, both pinned by digest, with on-disk Badger storage, a generated password and HTTPS on your own domains.

How do I upgrade Jaeger?

The install stays on its pinned 2.22.0 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up the jaeger_data volume first, with the site stopped, and read the upstream release notes. Nothing upgrades automatically, and a redeploy keeps the volume.

How do I back up Jaeger?

Stop the site and copy the jaeger_data volume, which holds the span store and a separate archive store. Nothing schedules this, so run it yourself. Traces expire anyway, so back up only what you need to keep.

Is Jaeger open source?

Yes, under the Apache-2.0 licence, and it is a CNCF project. Jaeger has no login of its own, which is why this template adds a Basic Auth gateway that also guards the ingest address and the query API.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
