Perses Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Perses hosting puts an open-source dashboard server for your Prometheus, Loki and Tempo data on your own domain, a self-hosted way to keep observability dashboards as code. Deploy Perses v0.54.0 as one pinned container with a built-in file database, authentication on and a generated admin password, published over HTTPS in minutes. You add the data sources it should read, because none is bundled.

What is Perses?

Perses is an open-source observability dashboard tool for displaying Prometheus metrics, Tempo traces, Loki logs and Pyroscope profiles, and it is a Cloud Native Computing Foundation sandbox project. Upstream pairs it with GitOps-friendly dashboards as code through SDKs and a command line. A self-hosted Perses is an alternative to Grafana for teams that want a dashboards-as-code workflow and a dashboard specification that other tools can reuse, released under Apache-2.0.

On xCloud it is Perses v0.54.0 from the official image, pinned by digest, as one container with a built-in file database on the perses_data volume. xCloud generates the admin password and an encryption key, turns authentication on and self-registration off, and serves the UI and API over HTTPS. The template bundles no Prometheus, Loki or Tempo.

From Sign-Up to a Live Perses In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Perses server needs the app, a database, an encryption key, an admin account, a domain and a certificate before the first dashboard. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Perses from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server; the install form has no fields.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We start persesdev/perses:v0.54.0-debug, the official build plus a shell for health checks, pinned by digest, with its file database on the perses_data volume, switch authentication on with self-registration off, generate the admin password and encryption key and publish it over HTTPS.

  3. Step 03

    Add A Data Source

Sign in as admin with the generated password, then add your Prometheus, Loki or Tempo URL as a data source. The Perses container makes the requests, so use addresses it can reach from this server.

Prometheus Dashboard Server: Perses On Your Own Server

Perses runs here as the dashboard server only, with your dashboards in a file database on a volume you control.

  • Four Observability Data Types

Upstream shows Prometheus metrics, Tempo traces, Loki logs and Pyroscope profiles in one place. You bring the data sources; none is bundled.

  • Dashboards As Code

Define dashboards with the Go and CUE SDKs and manage them with the percli command line, so dashboards live in version control.

  • Open Dashboard Specification

Upstream is defining a standard dashboard specification, with npm packages for embedding panels and dashboards in other UIs.

  • Plugin Architecture

Plugins extend panels and data sources, and core plugins are maintained in their own repository by the project.

  • Built-In Login, No Self-Registration

Authentication is on and sign-up is off, so only the provisioned admin can open the UI or its data-source proxy.

  • Encrypted Data-Source Secrets

Credentials saved for data sources are encrypted with a generated 32-character key that must stay unchanged after install.

Everything You Need To Run Your Dashboards 24/7

Managed hosting for Perses, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Perses v0.54.0 deployed instantly
  • Image pinned by digest
  • Admin password generated for you
  • Self-registration disabled
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Dashboards on a persistent volume
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Perses

  • Keep dashboards in version control

Write dashboards with the Go or CUE SDKs, validate them in CI and apply them with percli instead of editing them by hand.

  • Show Prometheus metrics on a private dashboard

Point Perses at your Prometheus and give the team a login-protected view on your own domain.

  • Put metrics, logs and traces side by side

Add Prometheus, Loki and Tempo data sources and build dashboards that cover several of them.

  • Embed dashboards in your own tools

Use the project's npm packages to bring Perses panels and dashboards into another interface.

Perses vs Alternatives

Grafana
Grafana has its own OneClick page. In a Perses vs Grafana comparison, Perses is built around dashboards as code and an open dashboard specification; check the panels and plugins you rely on first.
VictoriaMetrics
VictoriaMetrics has its own OneClick page. It is a metrics store, whereas Perses is a dashboard layer, so check which role you need before deploying either.
SigNoz
SigNoz has its own OneClick page. It is an observability platform with its own backend, while Perses is the dashboard layer only.
Perses demo site
Upstream runs an online demo for trying existing dashboards. A hosted install gives you your own login, data sources and dashboards instead.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin Pineda
I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Perses an alternative to Grafana?

Upstream positions Perses as a dashboard tool with dashboards as code and an open specification. It can be used instead of Grafana for Prometheus, Loki and Tempo dashboards, but this page claims no feature parity, so trial your key dashboards.

Which data sources does Perses support?

Upstream lists Prometheus for metrics, Tempo for traces, Loki for logs and Pyroscope for profiles. None is bundled here, so add their URLs as global or project data sources from the Perses UI after you sign in.

Can you self-host Perses with Docker?

Yes. Perses ships an official image, and this template is Perses Docker hosting without the setup: the v0.54.0 image pinned by digest, a data volume, a generated admin login and HTTPS on your own domain.

How much RAM does Perses need?

The manifest floor is 512 MB of RAM, one core and 2 GB of disk, since it is one container with a file database. The 6 GB plan sits far above that and leaves room for other apps.

What is dashboards as code in Perses?

Dashboards are defined in files rather than clicked together. Upstream provides SDKs in Go and CUE plus a percli command line, so dashboards can be validated and applied from a CI pipeline and reviewed like any other code change.

How do I change the Perses admin password?

Edit ADMIN_PASSWORD in the Environment editor and redeploy. Perses re-applies it at every start and about once an hour, so a password changed inside the Perses interface is reset to that value; keep the Environment editor as the one source of truth.

Is Perses open source?

Yes. Perses is released under Apache-2.0, so the software has no licence fee. You pay only for the Cloud VPS underneath, which makes this a Perses cloud of your own rather than a hosted dashboard account.

Can other people register on my Perses server?

No. Authentication is on and self-registration is disabled, so only the provisioned admin account can open the UI or its data-source proxy. There is no SSO and no multi-user onboarding in this template, so add colleagues carefully.

How do I back up Perses?

Back up the perses_data volume, which holds the file database of dashboards, projects, data sources and users. Dashboards can also be exported as JSON from the UI or with percli, which gives you a copy in version control.

How do I upgrade Perses?

The install stays on its pinned v0.54.0 image until you adopt a newer template version. Back up perses_data first and read the upstream release notes. Keep PERSES_SECURITY_ENCRYPTION_KEY unchanged, or saved data-source secrets become unreadable after the move.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
