What is PsiTransfer?

Self-hosted PsiTransfer is a simple file transfer application: you upload files into a bucket, set an expire time and share the link. Upstream positions it as an open-source alternative to paid services like Dropbox and WeTransfer. It supports resumable uploads and downloads through tus.io, one-time downloads and downloading a whole bucket as a zip or tar.gz archive, and it is licensed under BSD-2-Clause.

On xCloud the template runs the official psitrax/psitransfer image at v2.4.4, pinned by immutable digest, behind xCloud's nginx with HTTPS on your domain. It generates an upload password that gates who can create transfers and an administrator password for /admin, and every transfer must carry its own download password chosen by the uploader. Chunks and metadata live on one persistent volume, psitransfer_data, and you own that data.

How do I self-host PsiTransfer with Docker?

Does PsiTransfer need an account?

How do I update PsiTransfer?

xCloud does not upgrade PsiTransfer for you: the image digest is fixed at install, and re-syncing the catalog reaches new installations only. Back up psitransfer_data, read the upstream release notes, change the image deliberately, then test upload, download and /admin. Roll back to the prior digest if a check fails.

What are the server requirements for PsiTransfer cloud hosting?

The manifest floor is 512 MB of RAM, one CPU core and 10 GB of disk. PsiTransfer cloud hosting on xCloud starts at the 6 GB Cloud VPS for headroom. Disk is what grows, with file sizes, retention windows and how many transfers run at once.

What should I back up?

Take a backup of the psitransfer_data volume, which holds uploaded file chunks and transfer metadata and must be restored together as one unit under the same Compose project identity. Do it before rotating the upload or administrator password, and before changing the image.

Is xCloud officially partnered with PsiTransfer?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the PsiTransfer project has been verified. Treat xCloud as the host and the PsiTransfer maintainers as the authors of the application, and take questions about its behaviour to the upstream repository.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
