What is Reitti?

Reitti is a self-hosted personal location tracking and analysis application that helps you understand your movement patterns and significant places; the name is Finnish for route or path. A self-hosted Reitti gives you an interactive timeline of visits and trips with transport-mode detection, raw GPS tracks, live location sharing and a workbench for correcting GPS points, as an alternative to hosted location-history apps. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0.

On xCloud the install runs Reitti 5.3.2 with a private PostGIS 17 database and a private Redis 7 cache, all pinned by digest, behind HTTPS on your domain. Two volumes hold the state: reitti_data for imported files and reitti_postgis for accounts, settings and location points. Nothing is pre-created, so you complete Reitti's one-time setup screen yourself as admin. The PostGIS image is amd64-only.

Can you self-host Reitti with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Reitti Docker hosting without the setup. Upstream publishes an official image and compose files; here xCloud runs the pinned Reitti 5.3.2 image with private PostGIS and Redis containers, generated database passwords, two named volumes and HTTPS.

How much RAM does Reitti need?

The template asks for 2048 MB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of disk as a starting floor for Reitti with PostGIS and Redis. Imports, large histories, map processing and uploaded photos need more, so the 6 GB plan is the entry rung.

How do I sign in to Reitti for the first time?

Open the HTTPS URL immediately after installation and complete Reitti's one-time setup screen: keep the username admin, choose a strong password and display name, and finish once. Until then anyone who can reach the URL could claim it. The setup route cannot be reused afterwards.

How do I import my location history into Reitti?

Sign in, open Settings, Import Data, and upload a supported file such as GPX. Then open the timeline or workbench to check the imported route on the map. Start with a small file to confirm it works before importing years of history.

Can I share my live location with Reitti?

Yes. Upstream lists same-instance sharing with other users, federation between Reitti instances and magic links that let someone without an account see your live position for as long as the link is valid. Decide carefully who gets a link, because it exposes your position.

Does Reitti run on ARM servers?

No. The pinned PostGIS image this template uses is amd64-only, so choose an amd64 Intel or AMD server. Reitti and Redis themselves publish arm64 images, but this complete pinned set of containers requires amd64, so a Raspberry Pi style server will not work.

What should I back up on a Reitti server?

Back up reitti_data, which holds uploaded and imported application files, and reitti_postgis, which holds accounts, settings, location points, trips and map data, from the same point in time. Redis is only a cache and does not need backup.

How do I upgrade Reitti?

Reitti 5.3.2, PostGIS and Redis stay pinned until you adopt a newer template version. Read the upstream release and migration notes, back up both durable volumes and test a restore first. Existing sites are not upgraded automatically, and database passwords must be rotated service-side first.

Is Reitti free?

Yes. Reitti is AGPL-3.0 open source, and modified deployments must keep the notices and provide source. The software is free; the dedicated Cloud VPS holding the database is what you pay for, and its disk grows with the location history you import.

Is location history sensitive data in Reitti?

Very. The template keeps PostGIS and Redis off public ports, but you should restrict administrative access, use a unique strong password, protect backups and apply retention controls. Treat any magic link and exported file as personal data too.

Is there a Reitti cloud service?

Not through this page. Reitti cloud hosting here means your own instance runs on a Cloud VPS that xCloud provisions, with every location point stored in a PostGIS database on a volume you own, with no vendor account involved.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
