What is Tautulli?

Tautulli is a Python web application for monitoring, analytics and notifications for Plex Media Server, and a self-hosted Tautulli shows more than Plex's own activity page. Upstream lists monitoring of current streams, fully customisable notifications for stream activity and new media, a global watching history with search and filters, top statistics, a full user list with devices and IP addresses, and library statistics. It is licensed under GPL-3.0.

On xCloud the install runs Tautulli v2.18.1 from the official image, pinned by digest, with a small init container that turns on username and password login before the setup wizard. The tautulli_config volume at /config holds settings, the SQLite history database and local metadata. The template asks for no Plex credentials and mounts no media directories, so you connect Plex inside Tautulli with a dedicated token.

Can you self-host Tautulli with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Tautulli Docker hosting without the setup. Upstream needs no separate web server; here xCloud runs the pinned tautulli/tautulli v2.18.1 image, adds the tautulli_config volume, enables web authentication and publishes HTTPS on your domain.

How much RAM does Tautulli need?

The template asks for 1 GiB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 10 GiB of disk as a floor for Tautulli. The 6 GB plan is the entry rung here, and the history database grows with the number of plays you record.

Does Tautulli need my Plex password?

No. The install form never asks for Plex credentials. Inside Tautulli, connect your Plex server with its URL and a dedicated Plex token that you grant and rotate through Plex, and do not reuse a personal password as a token.

Is the Tautulli dashboard protected before I finish setup?

Yes. Web authentication is already enabled with the username and password xCloud shows you, so sign in first and then run the setup wizard. Without that, the dashboard would be open to anyone who reached the URL first.

Does Tautulli need access to my media files?

No. The template mounts no media directories and exposes no direct public port, privileged mode, host network or Docker socket. Tautulli only talks to the Plex server you point it at, which must be reachable from this server.

What should I back up on a Tautulli server?

Back up the complete tautulli_config volume mounted at /config: application settings, the SQLite history database and local metadata. Back it up while Tautulli is stopped or quiet, and test a restore before relying on it.

How do I upgrade or roll back Tautulli?

Tautulli v2.18.1 stays pinned until you adopt a newer template version. Back up tautulli_config first. If an update fails, restore the backup together with the previous pinned version, and never mix a newer database state with an older image.

Is Tautulli free?

Yes. Tautulli is open source under the GPL-3.0 licence, with no fee for the software. The dedicated Cloud VPS that keeps the history database is your cost. Plex itself has its own terms and plans, which are separate.

What can Tautulli show about my Plex server?

Upstream lists current activity, a global watching history, top statistics, a user list with devices and IP addresses, and library statistics. It records what your Plex server reports, so it only shows plays after you connect it.

Does Tautulli work with Jellyfin?

No. Tautulli monitors Plex Media Server, per upstream. For Jellyfin or Emby, the xCloud catalogue has Jellystat, Streamystats and Tracearr, which are separate projects with their own OneClick pages, and Tracearr also covers Plex. Pick the one that matches the media server you actually run, and compare its features against what you need to see.

Is there a Tautulli cloud service?

Not through this page. Your Tautulli runs on a Cloud VPS that xCloud prepares, with the history on a volume you own, behind a login that is enabled from the start, watching a Plex server you connect.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
