What is Prowlarr?

Prowlarr is an indexer manager and proxy built on the popular Arr .NET and React base stack to integrate with your PVR apps. Upstream says it manages both torrent trackers and Usenet indexers, supports any Newznab or Torznab compatible source, and syncs indexers to Lidarr, Mylar3, Radarr, Readarr and Sonarr so none of them needs configuring by hand. A self-hosted Prowlarr also keeps indexer history and statistics. It is licensed GPL-3.0.

Is Prowlarr free?

Yes. Prowlarr is GPL-3.0 software, so the manager itself is free to run. The Cloud VPS is your cost, while any indexer memberships you add are separate and are not provided here, so budget for those yourself.

How much RAM does Prowlarr need?

The manifest asks for 1 CPU core, 1 GiB of RAM and 5 GiB of disk. Indexer count, search concurrency and retained logs are what grow over time. The 6 GB plan leaves room for that and for other apps on the server.

Can you self-host Prowlarr with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Prowlarr Docker hosting without the setup: the LinuxServer 2.5.2.5491 image pinned by tag and digest, Forms authentication enabled, the prowlarr_config volume mounted and HTTPS on port 9696 behind xCloud's proxy.

Does Prowlarr include indexers or a download client?

No. No indexer, download client, FlareSolverr instance or media application is bundled. Add only services and sources you are authorised to use, then connect your Arr apps using their private URL and API key. Prowlarr itself stores no media.

How do I connect Sonarr and Radarr to Prowlarr?

How do I change the Prowlarr administrator password?

From Prowlarr's Settings. The username and password you entered are consumed once to enable Forms authentication at install, so editing them in the environment later does not rename the account or rotate its password. Use Settings instead.

What should I treat as a secret in Prowlarr?

The Prowlarr API key, indexer cookies, proxy credentials and the API keys of connected applications. They sit in the config volume, so keep them out of screenshots, logs and support tickets, and protect your backups too.

How do I back up Prowlarr?

Back up the complete prowlarr_config volume while Prowlarr is stopped or idle, because it holds configuration and SQLite state that must stay consistent. Restore it into an isolated install first and check login, indexer tests and sync.

How do I upgrade Prowlarr?

The install stays on Prowlarr 2.5.2.5491 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up prowlarr_config, read the Prowlarr and LinuxServer release notes and test a restored copy. Never point an older image at an already migrated database.

Is there a Prowlarr cloud service I can use?

This page is your own Prowlarr cloud: a dedicated Cloud VPS running the open-source indexer manager, with your configuration on a volume you control. It is a private instance, not a shared service, and it holds your API keys.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
