What is TaskView?

TaskView is a task and project manager with goals, lists, boards, organizations, webhooks and an MCP server for AI assistants. This template runs the Community Edition, version 1.56.0, on PostgreSQL.

TaskView is source-available rather than open source. Its licence allows use by you, your household and your employees or contractors on your own server; offering it to customers or other third parties needs a commercial licence from the vendor.

What makes TaskView different?

It is a self-hosted task manager with organizations, webhooks and an MCP server for AI assistants, on PostgreSQL.

How do I sign in?

With the email and password you entered at install. The upstream demo account is replaced on first start, and the demo login was verified rejected in QA.

What runs alongside TaskView?

A private PostgreSQL database and a migration helper. Neither publishes a port to the internet.

Why does TaskView need two domains?

The web app and the API each get their own HTTPS address, because the browser calls the API directly. Both must stay reachable. Cross-origin access is limited to your web app.

Can anyone sign up?

No. Registration is closed; people join by invitation to an organization or project. Confirming accounts, sign-in codes and invitation emails need SMTP settings added in the Environment editor.

Which domain is permanent, and what happens if I change it?

The API domain is the install's permanent identity: sign-in cookies and connected MCP clients depend on it, so changing it signs everyone out. The web app domain can change freely.

Are real-time notifications included?

No. They need a separate Centrifugo service that this template does not include, so notifications appear on the next page load.

Can I offer TaskView to my own customers?

Not under the standard licence. TaskView is source-available: use by you, your household and your employees or contractors on your own server is allowed, while offering it to customers or other third parties needs a commercial licence from the vendor (support@taskview.tech).

What should I back up?

The taskview_pgdata volume (PostgreSQL data) and the stable secrets in the environment file. Keep the generated JWT and encryption secrets: changing them signs users out and makes stored SSO settings and integration tokens unreadable.

What survives a restart?

Projects, lists, tasks and accounts on the taskview_pgdata volume. In QA a task was still present after restarting the API and database.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update TaskView?

No. The template pins TaskView 1.56.0 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Back up first, read the upstream release notes, then bump the readable tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 1024 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk; measured idle use in QA was about 285 MB. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that baseline.

Is xCloud officially partnered with TaskView?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the TaskView project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for TaskView.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
