What is Tianji?

Tianji is an open-source, self-hosted, all-in-one insight platform — website analytics, uptime and HTTP monitoring, server telemetry, surveys, event feeds and public status pages in one dashboard. This template deploys Tianji version 1.32.33.

Is Tianji free?

Yes — Tianji is free and open source under the Apache License 2.0. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the software itself.

Can I self-host Tianji?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the official Tianji image alongside a private PostgreSQL database, both pinned by immutable digest, mounts a persistent volume, and publishes it over HTTPS on your domain in minutes instead of assembled by hand.

Who becomes the administrator, and how do I sign in?

You choose the administrator username during installation (default "admin"); xCloud generates a 32-character password. Both are shown once in your Credentials panel alongside the Tianji URL — open that URL and sign in with those credentials.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

A private PostgreSQL database with generated credentials, a stable JWT signing secret, the administrator account, the domain and the HTTPS route. Only Tianji itself is published — PostgreSQL stays private to the internal network.

How does xCloud retire Tianji's default admin login?

An idempotent bootstrap step runs Tianji's database migrations, then checks the built-in administrator account: if it still carries Tianji's upstream default password, bootstrap replaces the username and password with your generated ones before the application accepts any traffic.

Can other people sign up for an account?

No. Public self-registration is disabled by default (ALLOW_REGISTER=false), and there is no install-time field to turn it on. The administrator account is the only way in until you change that setting yourself.

Is Tianji's API available for integrations?

Yes. Tianji's OpenAPI surface is enabled by default, so authenticated tooling can integrate with monitors, analytics and other data without going through the dashboard.

How do I change the administrator password later?

Change it inside Tianji itself. The bootstrap gate only overwrites the account while it still carries the upstream default or the originally generated password — once you rotate it in the app, redeploys preserve that change.

What should I back up?

The tianji_postgres_data volume — it is the only persistent volume this template mounts, and it holds every account, workspace, monitor, analytics event, telemetry record, survey, feed and status-page configuration. Back up the JWT secret and other environment values alongside it.

Backups in xCloud

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Tianji?

No. The template pins Tianji and PostgreSQL by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Review Tianji's upstream release notes, take a verified backup of tianji_postgres_data, and confirm sign-in and a monitor check before changing any pinned image.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template manifest asks for 1 GB of RAM, one CPU core and 10 GB of disk as a floor for Tianji alongside PostgreSQL. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that floor for growing analytics volume and monitor history.

What survives a restart?

Everything on tianji_postgres_data, because it is a persistent named volume. Restarting the containers does not touch your accounts, monitors, analytics history or configuration.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Tianji?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Tianji project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Tianji project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
