FileRise Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy FileRise hosting and give your team a private file drive on your own domain. xCloud runs the pinned FileRise 3.34.0 image as a single container, generates the admin password, mounts three persistent volumes for files, accounts and metadata, and publishes the app over HTTPS — with per-folder access, share links and resumable uploads ready once you sign in.

What is FileRise?

FileRise is a self-hosted web file manager and storage hub. It gives you a browser-based file drive with drag-and-drop uploads, per-folder permissions, share links and WebDAV, in a single PHP application that needs no external database.

The Core edition is MIT-licensed and holds the full open-source feature set. FileRise Pro, a separate paid upstream licence, adds things like user groups and client portals. xCloud runs the official Docker image pinned by digest, with uploads, user accounts and metadata on persistent volumes.

From Sign-Up to a Live File Drive In Just 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted file manager normally means a container, persistent storage, an admin account, a domain and a certificate before the first upload. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick FileRise from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official FileRise image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with no database or sidecars, mount the filerise_uploads, filerise_users and filerise_metadata volumes, generate a 24-character admin password and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Sign In As Admin

Save the generated password from the protected installation credentials, open your HTTPS FileRise URL (the first start can take up to a minute) and sign in as admin. Change the password inside FileRise, then add users and folders from the admin panel.

Everything FileRise Does, On Your Own Server

FileRise Core runs in full here: a web file manager with granular permissions and sharing, on storage you own.

  • Chunked, Resumable Uploads

Drag and drop files into the browser; uploads are sent in chunks with pause, resume and progress tracking, and resume automatically if the connection drops.

  • Per-Folder Access Rules

Grant view, upload, create, edit, rename, move, copy, delete, extract and share rights folder by folder, enforced in the web UI, the API and WebDAV.

  • Share Links And File Requests

Share a folder or a single file with an optional password and expiry, or send an upload-only File Request link to people who have no account.

  • WebDAV Access

Mount FileRise as a drive from macOS, Windows or Linux, with listings, uploads and deletes honouring the same folder rules as the web UI.

  • Optional Folder Encryption

The administrator can switch on encryption at rest for a folder and everything beneath it; upstream disables WebDAV, sharing and ZIP operations for encrypted folders.

  • Tags, Search And Trash

Tag files, search by name, tag, uploader or content, and recover mistakes from a Trash with time-based retention.

Everything You Need To Run Your File Drive 24/7

Managed hosting for FileRise, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • FileRise 3.34.0 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Admin password generated for you
  • Three persistent volumes
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With FileRise

  • A private file drive for your team

Give each person their own login and decide which folders they can reach, instead of sharing one folder with everyone.

  • Sending large files without email limits

Share a file or folder by link, with a password and an expiry, rather than attaching it or uploading it to a third-party service.

  • Collecting files from people outside your team

Send an upload-only File Request link so clients or contributors can submit files into one folder without seeing what is already there.

  • Mounting storage as a network drive

Connect from macOS, Windows or Linux over WebDAV and work with the same folders and permissions you see in the browser.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is FileRise free to self-host?

The core app is MIT-licensed. FileRise Pro features, such as user groups and client portals, need a paid licence from the upstream project. xCloud charges for the server it runs on.

How do I sign in for the first time?

Use the admin username and the generated password from the protected installation credentials. Change the password inside FileRise afterwards; editing ADMIN_PASSWORD in the environment later does not change it.

How do I give someone access without making them an admin?

Create a user from the admin panel, then grant that user access to specific folders. Users only see the folders they have been given. There is no public sign-up.

What runs alongside FileRise?

Nothing. It is a single container with no database. The three named volumes hold all of its data.

What should I back up?

Copy filerise_uploads, filerise_users and filerise_metadata together; a restore needs all three from the same moment. Also keep the installation's stable environment values.

Should I set PERSISTENT_TOKENS_KEY?

No, leave it unset. FileRise generates and keeps its own key in the metadata volume; replacing it signs everyone out and breaks stored encrypted settings.

Are share links private?

Treat them as public: anyone holding a link can open the shared file without an account. Add a password and an expiry when the content is sensitive.

What is the largest file I can upload?

The proxy accepts request bodies up to 5 GB for this app and the browser uploader sends files in small chunks. QA verified a 3 MB upload and download round trip only, so test your own large files first.

Does the file drive survive a restart?

Yes. Files, user accounts and share links live on the three persistent volumes and were still present after a docker restart on QA.

Is virus scanning included?

It is off by default. Turning it on needs extra memory, so check the server's RAM first.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk; measured RAM on QA was 43 MiB after an upload and download round trip. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom, and your disk needs depend on the files you upload.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update FileRise?

No. The template pins FileRise 3.34.0 by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release and existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Read the upstream release notes, then bump the image tag and digest together on your own schedule. Server-level backups and snapshots are available on every Cloud VPS.

Is xCloud officially partnered with FileRise?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the FileRise project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source FileRise project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
