Maintainerr Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Maintainerr hosting on xCloud gives your media server a self-hosted media cleanup tool that removes unwatched titles by rules instead of by hand. Deploy Maintainerr from the OneClick catalog and xCloud starts the pinned 3.30.1 image behind an nginx gateway with a generated username and password and mounts a persistent volume for your rules. It needs an existing Plex, Jellyfin or Emby server, and its rules can delete real media, so test them first.

What is Maintainerr?

Maintainerr automates media library cleanup. Its README describes libraries that fill up with titles requested, watched once and never touched again, and says you write rules for what is unwatched and unrequested, and it gathers those titles into a collection, gives everyone a grace period to catch up, then clears them out. The template README adds that rules can use data from Plex, Jellyfin or Emby and from Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr and Tautulli. Self-hosted Maintainerr is a cleanup tool you run yourself. It is licensed under MIT.

Here, the xCloud template starts Maintainerr 3.30.1, pinned by digest, behind an nginx Basic Auth gateway, because Maintainerr has no login of its own and its API can delete media and returns stored API keys. Rules and settings sit on the maintainerr_data volume. It bundles no media server and does not mount your library, so the leftover folder cleanup does not work.

From Sign-Up to a Live Cleanup Tool In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting Maintainerr normally means a container, a way to keep its API and stored keys private, a volume, a domain and a certificate. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Maintainerr from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Maintainerr image, pinned by immutable digest, behind an nginx Basic Auth gateway, mount the maintainerr_data volume, generate the gateway password and publish it over HTTPS on your domain. The Maintainerr container itself is not published on the host.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Run The Wizard

Save the username and password from the credentials card, open your HTTPS Maintainerr URL and sign in. Then follow the setup wizard: add your media server first, then Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr or Tautulli.

Everything Maintainerr Does, On Your Own Server

Maintainerr runs in full here: rule-based media cleanup on your own domain, protected by a login from the first minute.

  • Rules Across Your Services

Build AND/OR rules that combine media server data with Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr and Tautulli.

  • Leaving-Soon Collections

Matching media is gathered in a collection and kept for a grace period before it is removed.

  • Plex, Jellyfin And Emby

Works with Plex, Jellyfin and Emby; it does not include a media server, so you connect the one you already run.

  • Notifications And An API

Notifications are configured in the interface, and Maintainerr has a documented API.

  • Protected From The First Minute

Maintainerr has no login of its own, so xCloud puts a generated Basic Auth login in front of the interface and API.

  • Your Settings Survive A Restart

Rules, collections and media server settings live in the maintainerr_data volume and survived an xCloud Restart in QA.

Everything You Need To Run Your Media Cleanup 24/7

Managed hosting for Maintainerr, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Maintainerr 3.30.1 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Gateway login generated for you
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Maintainerr

  • Clear out what nobody watches

You write a rule for titles unwatched for a long time, and Maintainerr collects them and removes them after a grace period.

  • Give viewers a warning

Matched titles appear in a collection for a set time, so people can watch them before they go.

  • Link cleanup to requests

You use request data from Seerr to protect titles someone asked for and remove ones nobody requested.

  • Stop deciding by hand

An administrator replaces periodic manual deletion with rules that run on a schedule against the media server and its helpers.

Maintainerr vs Alternatives

Manual library cleanup
Deleting media by hand needs no extra tool but takes your time and relies on memory. Maintainerr applies rules on a schedule, so test them carefully because matched media is really removed.
Janitorr
Janitorr is a separate open-source project that its repository describes as cleaning Radarr, Sonarr, Jellyseerr and Jellyfin before you run out of space. Maintainerr builds AND/OR rules over Plex, Jellyfin or Emby with Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr and Tautulli; compare both before choosing.
Tautulli
Tautulli is a separate Plex monitoring tool with its own OneClick page, and Maintainerr can use its watch data. It reports usage, while Maintainerr acts on it.
Sonarr
Sonarr is a separate TV manager with its own OneClick page that Maintainerr connects to. It fetches and organises shows, while Maintainerr decides what to remove.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!

I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Is Maintainerr free?

Yes. Maintainerr is open source under the MIT licence, with its licence text linked at the pinned v3.30.1 tag. xCloud bills for the Cloud VPS under it, not for Maintainerr, and there is no per-library fee. You still need your own media server.

Can you self-host Maintainerr with Docker?

Yes, and this Maintainerr Docker hosting template does it for you: the ghcr.io/maintainerr/maintainerr image, pinned by digest, runs behind an nginx gateway on your own server, with HTTPS in front. It is not a Maintainerr cloud account, so your rules and keys stay with you.

How much RAM does Maintainerr need?

The template sets a floor of 512 MB of RAM, one CPU core and 2 GB of disk, because Maintainerr coordinates rules rather than serving media. With the 6 GB tier sold here you have a large cushion.

How do I sign in to Maintainerr?

Use the username maintainerr and the generated password from the credentials card, which the nginx gateway requires before the interface or the API is reachable. Then follow the setup wizard to choose Plex, Jellyfin or Emby and add Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr or Tautulli.

Why is there a login in front of Maintainerr?

Maintainerr has no accounts or built-in authentication, and its API can change rules, run rules that delete media and return your stored API keys. The whole domain therefore sits behind Basic Authentication. Keep the password private, because anyone with it controls your library cleanup.

Does Maintainerr include a media server?

No. It does nothing without an existing Plex, Jellyfin or Emby server, and optionally Radarr, Sonarr, Seerr and Tautulli, which must be reachable by URL from this server. Maintainerr only coordinates them. Test every rule before you let it delete anything.

How do I change the Maintainerr gateway password?

Change GATEWAY_PASSWORD in the Environment editor and redeploy, then use the new value in your browser. The credentials card keeps showing the original, so record the new one. The password protects both the interface and the API.

Does the Maintainerr leftover folder cleanup feature work?

No. That upstream feature needs your media library mounted at the same path as in Radarr and Sonarr, and this template does not mount a library. The rule-based collection and removal features work through the media server and the helper services instead.

How do I back up Maintainerr?

Back up the maintainerr_data volume, mounted at /opt/data, which holds the SQLite database of rules and settings, logs and overlay assets. Keep the gateway password in your notes. Test a restore, and note that your media library itself needs its own backup.

How do I upgrade Maintainerr?

A running 3.30.1 site stays exactly as installed until you adopt a newer template version on your own schedule. Back up the volume first and read the upstream release notes, then check your rules still match what you expect before re-enabling deletion.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
