I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. What is InfluxDB 2 OSS?

InfluxDB 2 OSS is an open-source time-series database for metrics, events and sensor data. It ships with a web interface, an HTTP API, the Flux query language, and organizations, buckets and retention policies for keeping different workloads apart.

Which version does this deploy?

InfluxDB 2 OSS 2.9.1, from a pinned image. InfluxData changed how the upstream `latest` tag behaves, so this template stays on the verified 2.9.1 release rather than following a moving tag.

Do I need technical skills?

No. There is nothing to configure and nothing to set up yourself. You fill in a short install form, and we install, patch and maintain everything for you.

How does the initial setup work?

xCloud runs InfluxDB's supported first-start setup path for you, creating the first administrator, an organization, a bucket and an API token. Save the generated admin password and API token that xCloud shows you after installation — they are what you sign in and write with.

Is it reachable over HTTPS?

Yes. The service listens on localhost only, and xCloud's nginx serves the UI and API over HTTPS on your own domain — so nothing is exposed directly to the internet.

How do backups work?

Back up both of InfluxDB's persistent data stores. Engine data and configuration are separate persistence boundaries, so a backup of only one of them is not a complete restore point.

How should I handle API tokens?

Restrict each token's privileges to the buckets it is meant to touch, rather than reusing the all-access token from setup, and rotate credentials on whatever schedule your security policy calls for.

Does my data survive a restart?

Yes. The QA run for this template wrote a synthetic measurement, restarted the service from xCloud, and confirmed it was still visible in the Data Explorer afterwards.

How big a server do I need?

Size CPU, memory, disk and retention policies against your write volume, series cardinality and query workload. Cardinality is usually what drives memory, and your retention periods are what drive disk.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
