OpenCloud Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy OpenCloud hosting and run your own private file cloud on your own domain. OpenCloud is a self-hosted file sync and sharing platform, and xCloud runs the pinned 8.1.0 image as a single container, generates the admin password, mounts persistent volumes for configuration and files, and publishes the web interface, WebDAV and API over HTTPS in minutes, with no separate database to run.

What is OpenCloud?

Self-hosted OpenCloud is a file sync and sharing platform you run yourself. Upstream's repository holds the Go backend of the OpenCloud server, released under Apache 2.0. Per the template, files live in personal and project spaces, are reachable from the browser and over WebDAV, and can be shared with public links, with desktop and mobile clients signing in through OIDC. It keeps your files on your own server instead of a hosted service such as Dropbox or Google Drive.

On xCloud the template runs the opencloudeu/opencloud-rolling 8.1.0 image as one container pinned by immutable digest, with no separate database or cache. The opencloud_config volume holds settings and generated secrets, and opencloud_data holds your files. HTTPS is published on your domain, the admin password is generated, and there is no open sign-up: the admin creates users. This is the upstream rolling channel.

From Sign-Up to Your Own File Cloud In Just 3 Easy Steps

A self-hosted file cloud normally means an image, volumes, generated secrets, a domain and a certificate before the first upload. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick OpenCloud from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server — there are no extra fields to fill in.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official OpenCloud image, pinned by immutable digest, as a single container with no separate database, mount the opencloud_config and opencloud_data volumes, generate the admin password, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

    Sign In And Add Users

Save the admin password shown in the protected installation credentials, give the first start a minute or two, then open your HTTPS OpenCloud URL and sign in as admin. Create users and spaces from Admin Settings.

Everything OpenCloud Does, On Your Own Server

OpenCloud runs in full here: file sync and sharing on your own domain, with your files on volumes you own.

  • Personal And Project Spaces

Organise files per user or per team in spaces, created and managed from Admin Settings.

  • WebDAV Access

Files are reachable over WebDAV. A 20 MiB upload was read back in QA with a matching checksum.

  • Public Share Links

Public links require a password by default, and anonymous visitors unlock the shared files with it.

  • Desktop And Mobile Clients

Desktop and mobile clients sign in through OIDC, with your own domain as the issuer.

  • No Open Sign-Up

There is no self-registration: only the admin creates users, so the instance is not open to the public.

  • Large Uploads Through The Proxy

The proxy accepts request bodies up to 10 GB, and browser uploads are chunked so they work behind Cloudflare.

Everything You Need To Run Your File Cloud 24/7

Managed hosting for OpenCloud, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • OpenCloud 8.1.0 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Admin password generated for you
  • Kept behind xCloud nginx
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With OpenCloud

  • A private alternative to hosted file sync

Keep a team's files on a server you control instead of a third-party storage service, behind your own domain and HTTPS.

  • Spaces per team or project

Give each person or group its own space and let the admin create users, without opening sign-up to anyone else.

  • Sharing files with outsiders

Send a public link to a client or contractor. A password is required when the link is created, and the files unlock only with it.

  • Syncing from desktop and mobile

Connect the desktop and mobile clients to your own domain and keep devices in step with the server.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How much RAM does OpenCloud need?

The template's baseline asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk, and idle use measured in QA was about 141 MiB. The 6 GB tier sold here sits well above that baseline, with room for sync traffic and larger libraries.

Is OpenCloud open source?

Yes. The OpenCloud server is released under Apache 2.0, per its README and the LICENSE at the v8.1.0 tag, so the server costs nothing to run. xCloud bills for the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your files stay on the opencloud_data volume you control.

Can I run OpenCloud with Docker?

Yes, and this is OpenCloud Docker hosting prepared for you: the template runs the opencloudeu/opencloud-rolling 8.1.0 image as a single container, pinned by immutable digest, with opencloud_config and opencloud_data volumes, HTTPS on your domain and a generated admin password.

Does OpenCloud use a database?

Not a separate one here. The template runs OpenCloud as a single container with no database or cache beside it; its first start sets up about 25 internal services itself. Users and settings live on the opencloud_config and opencloud_data volumes.

Is OpenCloud open to public sign-up?

No. There is no self-registration. Sign in as admin using the password generated at install, then create further users from Admin Settings. Upstream default credentials were rejected in QA, and the admin password is applied once on first start.

Does OpenCloud support WebDAV and sync clients?

Yes, with a caveat. Desktop and mobile clients sign in through OIDC. WebDAV Basic auth is off by default, so generic WebDAV tools cannot use the admin password unless you enable PROXY_ENABLE_BASIC_AUTH. Plain WebDAV uploads of very large files may be refused behind a Cloudflare proxy.

What should I back up on an OpenCloud server?

A backup is the opencloud_config and opencloud_data volumes, taken together. The config volume holds the generated signing and transfer secrets, so without it the data cannot be read. QA found a 20 MiB file identical after a restart, but test a restore too.

How do I upgrade OpenCloud?

Nothing upgrades it for you. The template pins OpenCloud 8.1.0 from the rolling channel by immutable digest. Back up both volumes, read the upstream release notes, then move to a newer template version when one is published.

Can I share files with people outside my team?

Yes, with public links. By default a password is required when you create the link, and anonymous visitors unlock the shared files with it. Outside people get no account, because the admin creates users and sign-up stays closed.

What happens if I change the domain?

Keep one domain for the life of the install. OC_URL is both the public address and the sign-in (OIDC) issuer, so changing it signs every user out and desktop and mobile clients must be set up again. Choose the domain carefully before you invite anyone.

Is this OpenCloud cloud hosting?

It is your own OpenCloud on a dedicated Cloud VPS that xCloud provisions, not a shared file service. The container, both volumes and the admin account belong to your install, and the web interface, WebDAV and API are served over HTTPS on your domain.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.

Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
