Logchef Hosting Live In 5 Minutes

Deploy Logchef hosting and give your team a self-hosted log analytics platform with one web interface for exploring logs from VictoriaLogs and ClickHouse. xCloud runs the pinned Logchef v2.4.0 image next to a private VictoriaLogs v1.52.0 log store, generates the admin password, mounts persistent volumes and publishes the interface over HTTPS in minutes. The bundled store cannot receive logs from other servers.

What is Logchef?

Self-hosted Logchef is, in its README's words, a lightweight log analytics and observability platform for teams that want a strong query and control plane on top of the log backends they already run. It connects ClickHouse, VictoriaLogs or both, with LogchefQL search, dashboards, live tail, scheduled alerting, a CLI, an MCP endpoint and role-based access. It stands in for a hosted log analytics service, under the AGPL-3.0 licence.

On xCloud the template runs the Logchef v2.4.0 image beside a private VictoriaLogs v1.52.0 log store, both pinned by immutable digest, with logchef_data and victorialogs_data volumes. HTTPS is published on your domain behind built-in email and password login. There is no SSO, and Logchef starts with no sources until you add one.

From Sign-Up to a Live Log Explorer In Just 3 Easy Steps

A Logchef stack normally means an app container, a log store, admin credentials, volumes, a domain and a certificate before the first query. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick Logchef from the OneClick catalog. Choose your domain and target server, then enter an admin email — the admin password is generated for you by default.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the official Logchef image and a private VictoriaLogs container, both pinned by immutable digest, mount the logchef_data and victorialogs_data volumes, keep VictoriaLogs off the public internet, and publish Logchef over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Add A Source And A Team

Sign in with the admin email and password from the installation credentials. Under Admin, then Sources, add a VictoriaLogs source with http://victoria-logs:9428, then create a team under Admin, then Teams, link the source and add yourself.

Everything Logchef Does, On Your Own Server

Logchef runs in full here: a log explorer on your own domain, with a log store already running beside it.

  • Query Editor And Saved Queries

Search logs with LogchefQL or drop into the source's native query language, and keep the queries you reuse as saved queries.

  • VictoriaLogs And ClickHouse Sources

Connect VictoriaLogs, ClickHouse, or both, without moving or reshaping the data that already lives there.

  • Bundled VictoriaLogs

A VictoriaLogs container is included and ready to add as a source, reachable only inside the install's private network.

  • Teams And Source Access

Create teams and link sources to them, so you choose who can query which data.

  • Alerts

Logchef supports scheduled alert rules over your log sources, with email or webhook notifications.

  • API Tokens

Issue API tokens for scripts and tools, signed with a secret the template generates for you.

Everything You Need To Run Your Log Explorer 24/7

Managed hosting for Logchef, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.

  • Logchef v2.4.0 deployed instantly
  • Official image pinned by digest
  • Admin password generated for you
  • Private VictoriaLogs, no published port
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Server backups and snapshots
  • Server security updates included
  • 30+ server locations
  • Unused balance refunded

What You Can Do With Logchef

  • Explore logs from one interface

Search logs from VictoriaLogs or ClickHouse with the same query workflow, instead of switching between backend consoles.

  • Save and share queries

Keep saved queries and organise sources by team, so colleagues can reuse the searches that matter.

  • Watch logs as they arrive

Use live tail to stream matching rows into the explorer while you follow an incident.

  • Alert on log patterns

Set scheduled alert rules that send email or webhook notifications, once you have configured them.

Hear what people are saying about us

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.

Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

How much RAM does Logchef need?

The manifest asks for 1 CPU core, 512 MB of RAM and 5 GB of disk, and QA measured about 13 MiB for Logchef and about 3 MiB for VictoriaLogs idle. The 6 GB tier sold here leaves ample headroom, and retained logs are what grow the disk.

Is Logchef free and open source?

Yes. Logchef is AGPL-3.0 licensed, per the LICENSE file at the v2.4.0 tag, and the bundled VictoriaLogs is Apache-2.0, so no licence fee is due; xCloud's bill is the dedicated Cloud VPS, and your logs stay on your own volumes.

Can you run Logchef with Docker?

Yes, and this is Logchef Docker hosting prepared for you: the template runs the official Logchef v2.4.0 image beside VictoriaLogs v1.52.0, both pinned by immutable digest, with HTTPS on your domain, so it works as Logchef cloud hosting on your own VPS.

What is the difference between Logchef and SigNoz?

SigNoz is an OpenTelemetry-based observability platform that stores its own data, while Logchef is a query and control plane over VictoriaLogs and ClickHouse backends. SigNoz has its own xCloud page, so compare the two against your pipeline.

How do I sign in to Logchef?

With the admin email and the admin password you set at install, shown in the protected installation credentials. Logchef uses built-in email and password login here, with no SSO configured, and its API requires sign-in. The password is re-applied on every start.

Can I send logs from other servers to the bundled VictoriaLogs?

No, it is not published. Run VictoriaLogs or ClickHouse where you want and add it as a source instead, as long as this server can reach it. The bundled store is private to the install and meant for logs that arrive through it.

Why does Logchef start with no data?

Logchef starts with no sources. After signing in, add a VictoriaLogs source at http://victoria-logs:9428 under Admin and Sources, create a team, link the source and add yourself. Nothing appears until logs are ingested into the store.

Are the Logchef metrics and swagger pages public?

Yes. Logchef serves its metrics at /metrics and its API documentation at /swagger/ without sign-in, and this template does not add Basic Auth. Restrict those paths or add Basic Authentication at your access layer if that matters for your environment.

What should I back up on a Logchef server?

The logchef_data volume, the SQLite metadata database with users, teams, sources, saved queries and API tokens, and the victorialogs_data volume with the logs. Stop the containers before a filesystem snapshot, copy both off the server, and test a restore.

How do I upgrade Logchef?

Nothing upgrades it for you: the install stays on pinned releases Logchef v2.4.0 and VictoriaLogs v1.52.0 until you adopt a newer template version. Snapshot both volumes first, read the upstream release notes, then check sign-in and a saved query.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
