From Sign-Up to a Live mkcert Web UI In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting a certificate manager normally means a container, a domain, a certificate and a generated login before you can issue your first development certificate. This is the same result without assembling any of it.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick mkcert Web UI from the OneClick catalog. Choose a domain — xCloud generates the admin credentials, no other app-specific fields needed.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned mkcert Web UI 4.3.4 image, bound to loopback only, mount its four persistent volumes, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Create Your Root CA

Save the admin password shown in the protected installation credentials, open the HTTPS URL, sign in as admin, generate the Root CA, download it and install it on your devices, then issue your first certificate.

Everything mkcert Web UI Does, On Your Own Server

mkcert Web UI runs in full here — the same certificate issuance and management tooling as running mkcert by hand, wrapped in a login-protected interface you control.

  • Issue Certificates For Domains, IPs And Wildcards

Issue development certificates for multiple domains, IP addresses and wildcards from one form, instead of running mkcert commands one at a time.

  • Export As PEM, CRT Or PFX

Download certificates and keys in the format your stack needs — PEM, CRT or PFX (PKCS#12) — without converting them yourself.

  • One Root CA, Trusted Everywhere You Install It

Create a Root CA once and share its certificate with every device that should trust the certificates it issues.

  • Upload And Inspect Existing Certificates

Bring in certificates you already have, inspect them, and attach notes saying what each one is for.

  • Optional Expiry Notifications

Get notified before a certificate expires, by email, webhook or ntfy, if you choose to configure it.

  • Certificates And Root CA Persist Across Restarts

Certificates, settings and the Root CA are kept on persistent volumes and were verified to survive an xCloud Restart with the same CA fingerprint.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson El
I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What is mkcert Web UI?

mkcert Web UI is a browser interface for mkcert: create your own local Certificate Authority and issue trusted development certificates for hostnames, IP addresses and wildcards without touching a command line. This template deploys version 4.3.4.

What does it do that the mkcert command line does not?

It wraps mkcert in a login-protected web interface with downloads in several formats, uploads, notes and optional expiry notifications — the same underlying certificate issuance, with a form instead of a terminal.

Is it free?

It is open source under the GPL-3.0 licence. What you pay xCloud for is the dedicated server it runs on and the management around it, not the application itself.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The mkcert Web UI URL, a generated admin password, the domain and the HTTPS route, all on a single container bound to loopback and proxied by xCloud.

How do I sign in?

Use the username admin and the generated password shown in the protected installation credentials — there is no default password.

Will my devices trust the certificates automatically?

No. Download the Root CA from the app and install it on each device or browser that should trust your certificates — nothing distributes trust for you.

What runs alongside it?

Nothing — it is a single container with no database behind it. Measured idle use on QA was about 40 MiB.

What should I back up?

All four volumes — certificates, application data, saved settings and the Root CA with its private key — kept together, with an off-server copy of the Root CA volume above all. Losing it creates a new CA, and every device that trusted the old one stops validating certificates.

How do I change the admin password?

The password is re-read from the environment on every start. Change it in the Environment editor and redeploy — it is not a live in-app settings change.

Does signing in persist across a restart?

No. Sessions are held in memory, so everyone signs in again after a restart.

What's the SCEP endpoint for?

It's served publicly for device enrollment, but it needs a challenge issued from inside the app first — it is not open or self-authorizing.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 256 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 2 GB of disk as a floor. This page sells the 6 GB tier, comfortable headroom above that floor for a growing certificate inventory.

Is xCloud officially partnered with mkcert or mkcert Web UI?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud, mkcert, or the mkcert Web UI community project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source mkcert Web UI project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
