I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

What is Mealie?

Mealie is a free, open-source recipe manager and meal-planning platform. It gives a household one place to import and organise recipes, plan meals for the week, and build the shopping list that follows from that plan.

Which version does this deploy?

Mealie 3.22.0, from a pinned image, behind HTTPS that xCloud manages. Check the upstream release notes before moving off that pinned version.

Do I need technical skills?

No. There is nothing to configure and nothing to set up yourself. You fill in a short install form, and we install and maintain everything for you.

How long does deployment take?

About five minutes. You create an account, choose a plan, and a working Mealie is waiting at your own HTTPS domain.

How does the administrator account work?

xCloud initialises the first administrator with securely generated credentials at install time. Save them straight away, and rotate the password from inside Mealie after your first sign-in if your policy calls for it.

Can my household share it?

Yes. Mealie has households and invites, so the people you cook with share the same library, meal plan and shopping list. Review the household and invite settings before you add anyone.

Can I import recipes from other sites?

Yes. Paste a recipe URL and Mealie extracts the ingredients and instructions into your own library, so the recipe survives even if the original page doesn't.

Why does the timezone matter?

Meal planning is a calendar feature, so keep the configured application timezone aligned with the household's actual schedule — otherwise plans can land on the wrong day.

How do backups work?

Back up the persistent data store, and do it before upgrades or a host migration. That store is where your recipes, plans and uploaded images live.

Does my data survive a restart?

Yes. The QA run for this template created a recipe, restarted the application from xCloud, and confirmed it was still there and still usable afterwards.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
