From Sign-Up to a Live WhatsApp Gateway In Just 3 Easy Steps

Self-hosting a WhatsApp gateway normally means a container, a database, a queue, generated credentials, a domain and a certificate before a single session is paired. This is the same result without assembling any of it by hand.

  1. Step 01

Create your xCloud account and pick OpenWA from the OneClick catalog. Select a domain — there are no extra fields; xCloud generates everything else.

  2. Step 02

    We Deploy It For You

One click. We bring up the pinned OpenWA 0.23.7 image alongside a digest-pinned PostgreSQL 16 database and password-protected Redis 7 instance, neither with a published port, generate the API master key, mount openwa_data / openwa_postgres / openwa_redis, and publish the dashboard over HTTPS on your domain.

  3. Step 03

Sign In And Pair A Number

Wait 1-2 minutes for first-boot migrations, then open your HTTPS URL and paste the API master key from your xCloud credential panel to sign in. Create a WhatsApp session and pair it by scanning the QR code with a dedicated number.

Everything OpenWA Does, On Your Own Server

OpenWA runs in full here — the same dashboard, REST API and Socket.IO as any hosted WhatsApp gateway, on infrastructure you control.

  • Dashboard, REST API And Socket.IO

Manage WhatsApp sessions, webhooks and API keys from one dashboard, with the same control available through the REST API and Socket.IO.

  • Multiple Sessions, Your Choice Of Engine

Run multiple WhatsApp sessions on one instance, choosing between the whatsapp-web.js or Baileys engine per your memory and risk trade-off.

  • Scoped Operator And Viewer Keys

Limit operator and viewer API keys to chosen sessions, so integrations and agents only reach what they need.

  • Private Queue And Cache

Queues and cache run on a password-protected Redis sidecar, with application data kept in its own PostgreSQL database.

  • Built For Real Messaging Workflows

Suited to order updates, alerts, OTPs to opted-in users, and support replies sent straight from your own systems.

  • Sessions Survive A Restart

Sessions, the database and Redis data are stored on persistent volumes; a restart of every container kept the session record intact in verification.

See why agencies, developers, startups, and growing businesses choose xCloud to power their projects.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian Geovanny
I've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.

I'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting

xCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.

xCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.

Trust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍

So far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo Villa
Came from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.

I've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony Lewis
I came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowell
I like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose

Dear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.

What makes OpenWA different from the official WhatsApp Cloud API?

OpenWA is a self-hosted, open-source gateway that connects through whatsapp-web.js or Baileys rather than Meta's Cloud API. Upstream notes that this carries a non-zero risk of account restriction, so a dedicated number and warming it up gradually is advised.

Is OpenWA free?

Yes. OpenWA is free and open source under the MIT license. xCloud charges for the managed server, database and queue it runs on, not for OpenWA itself.

Can I self-host OpenWA with this template?

Yes — that is exactly what this template deploys. It brings up the pinned OpenWA image with digest-pinned PostgreSQL and Redis sidecars, generates an API master key, and publishes the dashboard over HTTPS on your domain in a few minutes instead of assembled by hand.

How do I sign in?

Paste the generated API master key from the credentials panel into the dashboard login screen. The same key works as the API key — there is no email/password registration.

What runs alongside OpenWA?

A PostgreSQL 16 database and a password-protected Redis 7 instance, both private to the installation with no published ports.

What should I back up?

The openwa_data, openwa_postgres and openwa_redis volumes together, plus your .env values. Changing API_KEY_PEPPER invalidates every stored key hash, so keep it stable.

What are the server requirements?

The template manifest asks for 2 CPU cores, 2048 MB of RAM and 10 GB of disk as a floor. Measured idle use in QA was around 150 MiB, rising to around 513 MiB with the WhatsApp engine loaded; upstream cites roughly 300-500 MB per whatsapp-web.js session. This page sells the 6 GB tier.

Which WhatsApp engine is used?

The default is whatsapp-web.js; Baileys is lighter on RAM. Upstream lists a ban-risk and memory trade-off for each, so the right choice depends on your workload.

Can I rotate the API master key?

Yes, but not by editing it in Environment — OpenWA seeds that key on first boot only. Create a new key in the dashboard and revoke the old one instead.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update OpenWA?

No. The template pins OpenWA, PostgreSQL and Redis by immutable digest; a catalog re-sync affects new installations only. Existing sites keep their install-time image until redeployed — read the upstream release notes and back up first.

Why does the dashboard say Docker is unavailable when I try to start Postgres or Redis?

Those services already run as compose sidecars in this template, so the dashboard's own infrastructure toggles that try to start them through Docker report Docker unavailable. It's expected, not a fault.

Is xCloud officially partnered with OpenWA or WhatsApp?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and OpenWA, or between OpenWA and WhatsApp/Meta, has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source OpenWA project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
