Deploy Trip hosting and run a self-hosted trip planner and map tracker on a dedicated Cloud VPS. xCloud starts the pinned Trip 1.49.0 container on a private network behind a Basic Auth gateway with a username you choose and a generated password, keeps the SQLite database and attachments on a persistent volume and serves the planner over HTTPS on your own domain.
TRIP, short for Tourism and Recreational Interest Points, is a self-hostable minimalist map tracker and trip planner. It lets you map and manage points of interest on interactive maps, plan multi-day trips with detailed itineraries, and share plans with travel companions, with no telemetry, tracking or ads. Run on your own server it is a self-hosted trip planner and a Wanderlog alternative for simple planning, under the MIT licence.
On xCloud it is deployed as two containers pinned by digest: ghcr.io/itskovacs/trip 1.49.0 on a private network and a Caddy gateway that asks for a Basic Auth login before any page or API route is reachable. The trip_storage volume holds the SQLite database, attachments and backups. Map tiles and geocoding come from external providers.
A Trip install normally means an app container, an authentication layer in front of it, a storage volume, a domain and a certificate before the first itinerary. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick Trip from the OneClick catalog. Choose the gateway username and a password of 12 to 128 characters, or let xCloud generate one, then choose a domain and a server.
Step 02
One click. We start ghcr.io/itskovacs/trip 1.49.0 on an internal network and a caddy 2.10.2 gateway, both pinned by digest, mount trip_storage at /app/storage, and publish only the gateway over HTTPS. The Trip container has no host port.
Step 03
Open the URL and enter the gateway credentials in the browser prompt. Then register the first Trip account and create a trip: add points of interest on the map, plan the days and attach notes.
Trip 1.49.0 runs here as a private planner, with its database, attachments and backups kept on a volume you own.
Visualise and manage points of interest on interactive maps, the core of upstream's minimalist map tracker.
Plan trips across several days with detailed itineraries, notes and attachments such as tickets, kept in your own storage.
Collaborate and share plans with the people you travel with. They also need the gateway credentials to reach your server.
Trip allows account registration, so every page and API route sits behind a Basic Auth gateway whose credentials are separate from Trip accounts.
Upstream states no telemetry, no tracking and no ads. Map tiles and geocoding still come from external providers that Trip is configured to use.
The SQLite database, attachments, application backups, assets and optional config live on the trip_storage volume.
Managed hosting for Trip, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Build the itinerary day by day, pin each place on the map and share the plan with companions who have the gateway credentials.
Save restaurants, sights and trailheads as points of interest on an interactive map that lives on your own server.
Attach notes and files to a trip so bookings and directions sit beside the places they belong to, on your own volume.
Give a small group one planner behind a shared gateway login, with each person registering a Trip account of their own.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Gary MoodyxCloud gave me what no other hosting platform could: the flexibility of a VPS with the convenience of managed WordPress. As a solo founder running an entire business on one server, that combination is an important unfair advantage.
Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Yes, and this template is Trip Docker hosting without the compose file: ghcr.io/itskovacs/trip 1.49.0 and a caddy 2.10.2 gateway, both pinned by digest, with the trip_storage volume and an HTTPS route. Upstream documents Docker Compose and Docker Run installs.
There are two logins. First the browser prompt from the gateway, with the username you chose and the generated password. Then Trip's own sign-in, where you register the first Trip account. Changing the gateway credentials does not change Trip account passwords.
The template manifest asks for 1024 MB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 3 GB of disk, and attachments will add to the disk. This page sells the 6 GB tier, which leaves ample room for other apps on the same server.
Yes, upstream lists collaboration and sharing with travel companions. Because the gateway protects every page and API route, companions need the gateway credentials as well as a Trip account, so create Trip accounts only for people you trust.
Yes. Map tiles and geocoding depend on external providers selected by Trip, so review their availability, acceptable-use terms, attribution, rate limits and privacy behaviour before relying on them. Trip itself states no telemetry, tracking or ads.
Yes. Trip is released under the MIT licence, so the planner costs nothing to run, and upstream describes it as free, forever. Your plan pays for the dedicated Cloud VPS underneath. Map and geocoding providers may have their own terms.
Trip allows account registration but offers no proven way to stop a stranger claiming the first account. So the template puts a Basic Auth gateway in front of every page and API route. Rotate AUTH_USERNAME and AUTH_PASSWORD together and restart.
Stop writes, then back up the whole trip_storage volume and your Environment values as one restore set, from the same point in time. Trip can also write application backups under /app/storage/backups; keep copies elsewhere. Nothing schedules the backup for you.
Nothing upgrades itself: 1.49.0 is pinned by digest, so an existing install stays on it until you move it. Read the upstream release notes and migrations, back up trip_storage and your Environment values, then adopt a newer template version and test login, itineraries and a restore.
For simple planning, partly. Trip maps places and plans multi-day itineraries, but it is a minimalist planner. This page makes no claim that it has Wanderlog's route optimisation, reservation import or offline access, so check the features you need first.
It is Trip on a dedicated Cloud VPS under your xCloud login, a Trip cloud of your own at your domain. Only the gateway binds a loopback port for xCloud's nginx, and the Trip container stays on an internal network.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Connect your first server in minutes. No plan you have to grow into.
