Deploy Workout Challenge hosting and run your own fitness competitions with friends, family or colleagues: goal-based points, live leaderboards and optional Strava import, on a server you control. xCloud runs the pinned 0.12.4 image with a private PostgreSQL database, generates the secret key and database credentials, mounts two persistent volumes and publishes it over HTTPS. Registration is open by default.
Workout Challenge is a web app that lets friends and co-workers compete across devices, such as Apple, Android or Garmin, using the metrics they choose. Upstream describes creating a competition or joining one by invitation link, entering workouts manually or importing them from Strava daily, and following dashboards, leaderboards and personal streaks, with weekly emails. Goals can use time, count, distance, calories or kilojoules per day, week, month or competition, with limits. Self-hosted Workout Challenge replaces a hosted challenge app, under the SSPL-1.0 licence.
On xCloud it is Workout Challenge 0.12.4, pinned by digest, with a private PostgreSQL 15 database, on the workout_challenge_data and workout_challenge_db volumes. The Server Side Public License is not a permissive licence, so read section 13 before offering it to others as a service. Registration is open, there is no preset admin, and emails and Strava are off until you configure them.
Self-hosting Workout Challenge normally means wiring up Docker, a PostgreSQL database, a reverse proxy and a TLS certificate before your first competition can start. This is the same result without assembling any of it.
Step 01
Create your xCloud account and pick Workout Challenge from the OneClick catalog. Optionally set your time zone for competition dates and weekly emails — xCloud generates the database and secret key values.
Step 02
One click. We bring up the pinned Workout Challenge 0.12.4 image alongside a private PostgreSQL 15.14, mount both persistent volumes, run the database migrations, and publish it over HTTPS on your domain.
Step 03
Open the HTTPS URL and register your account — there's no preset login. Create your first competition, set its goals and share the invitation link.
Workout Challenge runs in full here — the open-source edition is complete, and your workout and competition data sits on infrastructure you control.
Start a competition yourself, or join one through a friend's invitation link — no public sign-up list to manage.
Set goals by time, workouts, distance, calories or kilojoules per day, week, month or the whole competition, with points earned per 1% of progress toward the goal.
Personal stats and streaks sit next to competition leaderboards, in a responsive light- and dark-mode interface.
Log workouts by hand, or connect your own Strava API application for automatic import.
The PostgreSQL database and the generated app data both live on persistent named volumes that survive a restart.
The app image bundles its own background workers alongside the web interface, so nothing extra needs scheduling.
Managed hosting for Workout Challenge, so the parts that keep it online are not your problem.
Create a competition for colleagues, set a goal such as steps or minutes per week, and watch a leaderboard fill as people log workouts.
Score by percentage progress toward goals you define, with optional caps and floors, so beginners and athletes can share a board.
Link Strava so workouts are imported daily at 4 AM, and add the rest by hand.
Invite people by link, then add Basic Auth or an IP allow-list so only your group can reach the site.

xCloud works really well, I am surprised by its performance being this the release version, I have tried many paid platforms such as runcloud, cloudpages or serveravatar, as well as free platforms such as CyberPanel, CloudPanel or Hestia Control Panel and direct competitors such as SpinupWP and FlyWP. Of all those that I have tried, the platform that works best for WordPress is SpinupWP and I believe that xCloud can reach and surpass that development, its roadmap is promising. Congratulations to the xCloud team, I hope they become the leading platform in the segment, it has all the potential to achieve it!
Brian GeovannyI've been with runcloud for the last 3 years. However, after trying xcloud for the last month, I'm switching over. They are on a roll with their setup.
Kevin PinedaI'm moving my servers to xCloud, a cloud control panel by M Asif Rahman and the WPDeveloper team. Their roadmap looks interesting and no, there are no team mates nor API limits with xCloud! #xCloud #wordpress #hosting
Leo KooHow Cloud Nine Web Elevated Client Experience While Streamlining Hosting Operations using xCloud
Ed EllinghamxCloud is like having an expert server team on call — without the big agency costs. It's given me back my time and given my clients peace of mind. Highly recommended for freelancers and small teams who want reliable performance and security.
Dumitru ButucelxCloud isn't just a solution. It's like one of that friend who got your back when you screw things up pretty bad.
Waqar AhmedTrust me when I say, once people explore the potential of xCloud they gonna switch from other panels, just keep delivering the best tech, lots of love for the team 😍😍
Rahul SinghSo far my experience has been smooth like silk. I didn't imagine that configuring and managing a VPS would be so easy. As of today, I have deployed 8 sites. The support is good, and they treat users with respect, even if they ask stupid questions (myself included). For the future, I hope for greater flexibility in scheduled backups and more comprehensive and consistent documentation. I'm sure that within a few months, xCloud will become the leader in its segment. This community is amazing, and the Staff here is super helpful.
Massimo VillaCame from cloudways then to runcloud then to xcloud. Looks like I'm staying here.
Gerson ElI've recently taken all of my Vultr-hosted sites and gotten rid of cPanel for them to substitute it with xCloud. I have to say, I'm really impressed with xCloud so far! The interface is definitely the standout feature for me.
Tony LewisI came from Cloudways and won't go back. Highly impressed with xCloud. Glad I gave them a chance.
Jared McDowellI like xCloud better than RunCloud, but one thing I'll point out is that some years ago RunCloud was hungry for business, the support was outstanding, and the community was active and helped each other. Maybe it was sold, there was a change in management, or they stopped being hungry, but the quality of the RunCloud offering declined and it hasn't been moving forward quickly. My point is that currently the xCloud team has the edge and it is theirs to keep or lose
David McCanHow Kevin Heinrichs Cut Hosting Costs by 84% While Running WooCommerce & Node.js Sites Efficiently
Kevin HeinrichsI had 150 sites on cloudways and am in the process of moving them to xcloud. Much faster and better priced.
Dan SpinozaDear xCloud Team, I have been using xCloud for some time now and am genuinely impressed with its capabilities and the flexibility it offers by allowing users to bring their own VPS for management. It's a fantastic service, and my experience so far has been very positive. Successful migrated 5 sites on a single server. Xcloud migration tool worked great. There were few hiccups with security plugin like MalCare but disabling the plugin prior to migration worked just fine.
Rahil MaknojiaCame from runcloud. Tried xcloud and never came back.

Gary MoodyxCloud gave me what no other hosting platform could: the flexibility of a VPS with the convenience of managed WordPress. As a solo founder running an entire business on one server, that combination is an important unfair advantage.
Jorge de los Reyes MartínezI use Server Avatar and xCloud and I'll sooner use xCloud than Server Avatar personally.

Yes. Upstream's quick try is a single docker run, with a Compose file for production, and this template is Workout Challenge Docker hosting already set up: the 0.12.4 image pinned by digest, a private PostgreSQL, two volumes and HTTPS. It is your own Workout Challenge cloud.
Workout Challenge declares 1024 MB RAM, one core and 5 GB of storage; idle use on QA was about 730 MiB, since the image bundles its background workers. We start at 6 GB here, with room for a growing group.
There is no licence fee, but the Server Side Public License v1 is not permissive, so read section 13 before offering it to others as a service. The Cloud VPS is the one bill, cancellable any time.
Points come from percentage progress toward goals you define, so people of different fitness levels can compete fairly, with optional caps and floors. Goals can use time, count, distance, calories or kilojoules, per day, week, month or the whole competition.
Register on the site; there is no preset account and the first sign-up is an ordinary user. Share your competition's invitation link with the people you want. The Django admin login is optional and is created with a command, as the installation message shows.
Upstream lists automatic Strava import, daily at 4 AM, alongside manual entry. Strava needs your own API application settings, such as STRAVA_CLIENT_ID, added in the Environment editor; leave optional numeric keys unset rather than present but empty.
Registration is open by default, so anyone who reaches the URL could join. Add Basic Auth or an IP allow-list for a private group, and share competition invitation links only with the people you want to take part.
Sign-up accounts are never administrators. Create the Django admin login for /admin/ with the createsuperuser command shown in the installation message. The admin area is optional, so skip it if you do not need to manage users directly.
No. Welcome, password-reset and weekly leaderboard emails stay off until you add EMAIL_HOST and related settings in the Environment editor and redeploy. Leave optional numeric keys such as EMAIL_PORT unset rather than present but empty.
Back up both volumes together: workout_challenge_db for the PostgreSQL database and workout_challenge_data for app data, plus the generated secret key and database password. Use a PostgreSQL-consistent method, and test a restore on a spare install first.
The install stays on pinned 0.12.4 until you adopt a newer template version. Back up both volumes, scan upstream's release notes, then redeploy and check sign-in and a competition. Existing sites are never upgraded automatically.
Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
Your competition, your leaderboard, your rules. Challenge your friends without handing workout data to a third party.
