What is Verdaccio?

Verdaccio is a simple, zero-configuration-required local private npm registry. A self-hosted Verdaccio needs no full database, since it comes with its own tiny database, and can proxy other registries such as npmjs.org while caching downloaded modules, so a company can use private packages as easily as public ones without exposing its code. Upstream notes community plugins for Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Storage. It is licensed under the MIT licence.

Can you self-host Verdaccio with Docker?

Yes, and this template is Verdaccio Docker hosting without the setup. Upstream publishes an official Docker image; here xCloud runs the pinned verdaccio/verdaccio 6.10.3 image as one container, mounts verdaccio_storage and publishes HTTPS on your domain.

How much RAM does Verdaccio need?

The template asks for 1 GiB of RAM, 1 CPU core and 10 GiB of disk as a floor. Package count, tarball size, request concurrency and cache growth set the practical limits, so the 6 GB plan is the entry rung.

Can anonymous users publish packages to Verdaccio?

No. This template requires authentication for publishing, so there is no anonymous publish path, and self-registration is disabled after the owner is created. Only people you give the owner credentials to can publish, so share them sparingly and rotate them if someone leaves.

Will private package names be requested from npmjs?

No. Packages under the configured @xcloud/* scope stay local and do not fall through to the npmjs uplink, so internal names are not sent upstream. Unscoped and other public packages do proxy through npmjs, so keep private code inside the local scope.

How do I log in and publish to Verdaccio?

Copy the owner credentials from the protected result and run npm login with your domain as the registry, then npm publish for a package under @xcloud/*. Install it again with npm install and the same registry option.

How do I rotate the Verdaccio owner password?

Use Verdaccio and npm's supported password-change workflow against the live registry. Changing the ADMIN_USER or ADMIN_PASSWORD bootstrap environment value later does not reset an existing account, because those values only create the owner once, so use the live password change instead.

What should I back up on a Verdaccio server?

Back up the complete verdaccio_storage volume as one installation boundary. It contains package tarballs, metadata, cache and the htpasswd authentication database. Stop writes first, and restore it into an isolated environment to test it before you rely on it.

How do I upgrade Verdaccio?

6.10.3 stays pinned until you adopt a newer template version. Copy the whole storage volume and check the project's notes first. Running sites are never upgraded automatically, and the volume survives a redeploy, so packages remain published.

Is Verdaccio free?

Yes. Verdaccio is MIT-licensed, which means no software fee, though its documentation and logos carry separate Creative Commons terms. The cost is the dedicated Cloud VPS, whose disk holds your packages and the proxy cache.

Can Verdaccio store packages in S3?

Upstream notes community plugins that integrate with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage or custom solutions. This template uses the default local storage on a volume and configures none of them, so adding a plugin is your own change.

Is there a Verdaccio cloud service?

Not through this page. Verdaccio cloud hosting here means your own registry runs on a Cloud VPS that xCloud prepares, with packages and the account database on a volume you own, and publishing limited to your owner login.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
