What is Verdaccio?

Verdaccio is a lightweight private npm-compatible package registry that can host local packages and proxy public registries. This template deploys version 6.10.3.

Can anonymous users publish packages?

No. This template requires authentication for publishing — there is no anonymous publish path.

Will private package names be requested from npmjs?

No — packages under the configured @xcloud/* scope stay local and do not fall through to the npmjs uplink.

How do I rotate the owner password?

Use Verdaccio/npm's supported password-change workflow against the live registry. Changing the ADMIN_USER or ADMIN_PASSWORD bootstrap environment value later does not rename the owner or rotate the account — those fields are consumed once, during installation.

What does xCloud configure automatically?

The pinned Verdaccio image, a registry owner account from the username and password you set (or a securely generated password), persistent storage, the domain and the HTTPS route. Verdaccio stays on internal port 4873, reachable only through xCloud nginx.

What should I back up?

The complete verdaccio_storage volume, as one installation boundary — it contains package tarballs, metadata, cache and the htpasswd authentication database. Pause writes or stop the container for a filesystem-level backup.

Does xCloud automatically back up or update Verdaccio?

No. The template pins Verdaccio by immutable digest; new installations use the pinned release, existing sites are not automatically upgraded. Restore into an isolated installation on the matching release, then verify owner login plus a synthetic private-package publish and install.

What are the server requirements, and why does this page sell 6 GB?

The template manifest asks for 1 CPU core, 1 GiB of RAM and 10 GiB of disk as a floor for Verdaccio. This page sells the 6 GB tier as the entry rung, with real headroom above that floor as your package library grows.

What survives a restart?

Everything on verdaccio_storage, because it is a persistent named volume. Restarting the container does not touch package metadata, tarballs, cache or the htpasswd authentication data.

Is xCloud officially partnered with Verdaccio?

No. No official partnership or endorsement between xCloud and the Verdaccio project has been verified. This is a deployment and server-management option for the open-source Verdaccio project.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There is no lock-in — cancel any time. Hosting is billed monthly and charged for what you actually use, so when you delete the server the unused balance is refunded to your account, less up to 10% in payment-processing fees.
