Can't Sign In to xCloud? Check Your Login Email vs Your Team Email

Updated October 9, 2026 · 3 min read

A surprising number of “I can’t log in” tickets have nothing to do with passwords. The person is signing in with an email address that is attached to their team or their billing, but not to their user account. xCloud then behaves as if the account does not exist: the login page redirects to sign-up, the password reset email never arrives, and the support form cannot find the account.

Login email vs team email

  • Your login email is the address you registered your xCloud user with. Password resets, verification emails and 2FA prompts go here.
  • A team has its own name and contact email, set by the owner. Invoices and some notifications can go to that address. It is not a login.

They are often the same, but they do not have to be. A common setup is a personal address used to register and a billing@ or hello@ address on the team.

Quick check: open any email xCloud has sent you about a server, site or ticket. The address it was sent to is your login email.

If the login page redirects to sign-up

That means no user exists with the email you typed.

  1. Try the address your xCloud notification emails are sent to.
  2. If you have more than one candidate, use Forgot password with each one. Only the registered address receives the reset email.
  3. Do not create a new account with the other address. That gives you an empty second account, and your servers stay in the first one.

If the password reset email never arrives

  1. Check the spam folder and any filters.
  2. Confirm you requested it for the registered address, not the team or billing address.
  3. If you registered recently and never received the verification email either, the address was probably mistyped at sign-up. Contact support from any address you control, say which email you believe you registered with, and we correct it and resend the verification.

If you have the right email but 2FA blocks you

If you lost the authenticator app but still have your recovery codes, choose Use a recovery code on the 2FA screen and enter one. Each code works once.

If you have lost both, support can remove 2FA from the account after verifying it is you. The usual flow is:

  1. Open live chat or a ticket and explain the situation.
  2. Support gives you a short verification code and asks you to email it to support from the address on the account. This proves you control that mailbox.
  3. Once the email arrives, 2FA is removed and you can sign in with your password. Turn 2FA on again afterwards and save the new recovery codes somewhere safe.

The full setup and recovery guide is in Two-Factor Authentication: Set It Up, and Recover Access.

If you were invited to someone else’s team

An invitation creates or reuses a user with the email it was sent to. Sign in with that email. If the owner sent the invite to a different address than the one you normally use, ask them to invite the right one; the roles and permissions are explained in How to manage teams, roles and permissions.

If you still cannot get in, feel free to reach out to our support team. Tell us every email address you might have used, and we will find the account.

Frequently asked questions

The login page sends me to account creation instead of signing me in. Why?

There is no xCloud user with the email you typed. You are most likely using the team’s contact email or a billing email. Sign in with the email you registered with; that is the one your xCloud emails are addressed to.

I never received the verification email after registering. What now?

Check spam, then the spelling of the email you registered with. A typo during registration is the most common cause. Contact support from any address you control and say which email you tried to register; we correct it and resend.

I lost my authenticator and my recovery codes. Can support remove 2FA?

Yes, after verifying it is you. Support asks you to email from the address on the account and quote a code they give you in live chat. Once verified, 2FA is removed and you can sign in and set it up again.
