Paid an Overdue Invoice? How Reactivation Works and How Long It Takes

Updated September 27, 2026 · 4 min read

If you’ve paid an overdue invoice and things still don’t look right, it helps to know there are two separate locks in xCloud, and they don’t clear the same way.

The two locks

  1. Account billing lock. When your account is past due, every dashboard page redirects to Billing until it’s resolved.
  2. Server suspension. A specific server (and its sites) is taken offline. This is separate from the account-wide lock above — you can have one without the other.

Account billing lock: clears on payment

Paying the outstanding invoice clears the account billing lock. Access to the rest of the dashboard normally comes back within a few minutes.

If the redirect to Billing is still there well after payment, don’t keep waiting — contact support with your invoice number. Some invoice or plan types, or a payment that didn’t confirm cleanly on our end, need a manual check to finish clearing the lock.

A suspended server: paying the invoice does not lift it

This is the part that catches people out. Paying the invoice does not automatically bring a suspended server back online. Lifting a server suspension is a manual step on our side, separate from billing — so after you’ve paid, the next step is to contact support and ask them to lift the suspension.

When you reach out, include:

  • The server name.
  • The invoice number and the date you paid it.
  • Confirmation that your account-level billing lock (if you had one) has already cleared.

If the billing lock doesn’t clear after payment

If you’ve paid and the account is still locked to Billing after more than a few minutes, it’s not something you can fix from the dashboard — get in touch with support rather than repeating the payment or waiting indefinitely.

Avoiding this next time

  • Keep a valid, non-expiring card on file so a payment doesn’t fail silently.
  • Pay invoices before the due date where possible, rather than after the account locks.
  • If you know a payment will be late, reach out to support ahead of time — see the late payments section of How Billing Works in xCloud.

Frequently asked questions

I paid my invoice but every page still redirects to Billing. Why?

This is the account billing lock, and it normally clears within a few minutes of payment. If it’s still there after a while, contact support — some invoice or plan types, or a payment that didn’t confirm cleanly, need a manual check.

I paid the invoice and my account is unlocked, but one server is still suspended. What now?

That’s a separate lock from the account one, and it does not lift automatically when you pay. Contact support and ask them to lift the server suspension — it’s a manual step on our side.

How long does it take support to lift a server suspension?

It depends on current support volume; we don’t have a fixed number to give here. Contacting support with your invoice and server name as soon as you’ve paid is the fastest way to get it moving.
